Make your own

A story starring your child.

Tell the Storyteller who, what kind and how long. It writes a brand-new tale just for them.

  • Name, age and favourite things, so it’s pitched just right
  • Genre, mood and 5 to 30 minutes, from cosy to thrilling
  • Characters you add, like a dog, a grandpa or a talking lighthouse
  • Your ideas and hints, a setting, a lesson, something from today
Honest timing: writing takes a few minutes, and every draft is checked against our story principles before it’s ready. If one doesn’t pass, we tell you why and you can try again.

FAQ

Questions from the dock

When can we download it?
Tale & Sail is coming soon to iPhone. Join the waitlist and we’ll send one email the day it’s on the App Store.
What ages is it for?
Stories are sorted into age bands, from 3–5 up to 13–16, and each one is pitched for its band: gentler and shorter for little ones, bigger stakes for older listeners.
How long does a custom story take?
A few minutes. The Storyteller plans and writes the story, then every draft is checked against our story principles. If a draft doesn’t pass, we tell you why and you can try again.
Who writes the stories?
Our Storyteller, an AI writing system, drafts every story from a brief. Each one is then checked by an automatic validator and an AI reviewer against our story principles for its age band before it reaches the app.
Can we listen offline?
Stories play over an internet connection. We’ll update this answer before launch if that changes.
Is it on Android or the web?
Not at launch. Tale & Sail starts on iPhone; join the waitlist and we’ll let you know if that changes.
